Our Story

Ma’wa (مَأْوَى) is an Arabic word meaning sanctuary or a place of refuge. For our founder, Nadah Feteih, the outdoors has always been to reconnect with Allah’s creation, challenge ourselves, and find a deeper sense of purpose, faith, and belonging.

What began as a passion for the outdoors has grown into a global community of Muslim women brought together by a shared love for adventure, travel, and exploration.

In just three years, we've led 65+ group trips around the world. We've brought over 1,200 women on unforgettable experiences, grown a community of 7,000+ members, and have over 150k followers across social media.

Today, Ma’wa is one of the largest adventure travel communities for Muslims and creates opportunities to explore the world through experiences that challenge us physically and connect us to one another.

From trekking through Patagonia to exploring new cultures around the world, our international adventures are designed to take Muslim women beyond their comfort zones while staying rooted in our values.
