About Us

In February 2023, Ma’wa Collective was established to create opportunities for Muslim-American women to embrace the outdoors. Our vision is to cultivate engaging and safe experiences while building a community defined by a shared love for adventure.

Ma’wa (مَأْوَى, pronunciation) is an Arabic word that means sanctuary or a place of refuge. This is how our founder Nadah Feteih has always felt about being in nature. The ability to disconnect, appreciate God’s creation, and reflect on the beauty of the natural world has the ability to rejuvenate our souls and bring us closer to one another and our faith.

In less than a year, Ma’wa Collective has organized a dozen successful group trips, cabin stays, and day hikes. It has grown to be the largest Muslim women travel group based in the United States with 500+ members in our virtual community.
